About Me

Hi!

My name is Juliet van der Heijden and I am the quilt pattern designer, author and surface pattern designer behind Tartankiwi Designs.

Growing up in Scotland, I spent many hours in the great outdoors reluctantly learning about birds and nature from my brother and about archaeology from my parents. Little did I know that these memories would intermingle with my life in New Zealand and would become the source of such joy and inspiration as I grew. I love to create animal and bird designs which have personality and movement.

These days, not only do I design quilt patterns, but I also teach foundation paper piecing. Please get in touch if you would like to know more.
